One of the really interesting things for me about being at Srishti is to gain little insight in the correlation between art and science. Artists usually play a lot with different modes of perception to bridge the gap between creation and beholder. Their Labs are in the field of communication where artists investigate the ways to break through the frontiers of subconsciousness.
The other day my friend Yashas was teaching his class about remote viewing – or telepathy, ESP, PSI – with the example of the Ganzfeld experiment (german for “entire field”):
The “receiver” is blindfolded by halved ping pong balls on his eyes, floodlit, and listening to white noise over headphones. Then the “sender” tries to transmit information mentally while the receiver speaks out what he’s “seeing”. Beleive it or not, about 30% of the information found a way to the receiver. Stunning? Scary?
It’s just science!
Sometimes imparting about 30% of the intention, 1/3rd share of the subject of matter, can be a pretty good ratio. Interesting… Did someone already use this technique when building art installations? Please let me know
