It’s all hand made:

filmsoundworkshopDuring the last two days I did a workshop at Srishti with Shai’s class for cameraless film. They manipulate celluloid by painting and scratching directly onto the film material instead of shooting footage. We kind of work in the same domain: Hand made visuals meeting DIY sounds…

The main idea was to render an experimental sound design to the abstract films rather than just putting a music track in the background or editing the hell out of posh sound samples. Students were first checking out my analog synths, the little MPC and sound gadgets and then throwing in noise making things they found at home (like walkie-talkies, hand percussion or a small self made whistle that, processed through my audio gear, sounded really spooky). It’s always interesting to make some noise with people who don’t suffer from a musician’s tunnelvision and to finally hear what they get out of the sound gear once the timidity is broken down.

The following recording with my digicam was done just for documentation purpose:

BTW:  It’s the bass boom of the small monitor speakers in the screening room shaking the cam like crazy 😉
